Kaal Purusha - The Cosmic Man

Astrology is but the study of the nature of consciousness. The concept of the Kaal Purusha or the Cosmic Man is the manifestation of that consciousness expressed as self-awareness. The concept of Kala Purusha or the “Cosmic Man” is an all-pervading ideation of universal reality and cosmic consciousness that is constantly engaged in externalizing that which is the inner potential into outer reality. If we were to consider ourselves as simply the body and mind, we are neglecting our ability to capture our highest potential.
The Cosmic Man is ever engaged in the process of creation, sustenance and dissolution, like the Holy Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. All thoughts, emotions, feelings, pains, troubles, destruction and growth are all part of the Cosmic Man. He operates on all areas of life from health to family, education to career, birth to death. The study of Astrology enables us to identify this cosmic principle of reality through the study of the planets. The planets capture the energy that which is inherent in us, points us to the things that we need to improve on so that we can evolve and learn to be better.
"The human body is the temple of God. One who kindles the light of awareness within acquires true light. Inner vision is illuminated through the concentration of the mind. Joys are not for those who keep unclean minds, the mysteries of life are only revealed to the one who keeps his mind vigilant all the time. Bright and glowing is the sacred flame of your inner shrine."
Rig Veda (8.44.15)
The ancient scriptures assign Astrology as one of the limbs of the Vedas whose knowledge is to be acquired before participating in the learning of the actual Vedic text itself. It is synonymous with how one must familiarize themselves with foundational knowledge of algebra and geometry before understanding calculus and integrals. It elucidates the idea that Astrology is a science that helps one understand the nature of reality and consciousness itself. Without knowing the blueprint of our existence, the structure on which foundations are laid, one cannot begin to understand how to go about life. Astrology provides these answers by helping us map out our past, present and future.

Life of Lord Rama: Duty, Honour, Faith

Astrology involves more than just observing the alignment of planets; it is a conscious study of human beings. It stems from Kaal Purusha’s concept: astrology which depicts how the universal principle of creation, maintenance, and destruction applies to human beings. The Kaal Purusha depicts the evolution of the self as the cosmos, helps steer mankind towards the absolute. The life of Lord Rama, when viewed from the astrological perspective serves this divine framework as his birth chart serves as a zodiac for his life’s work and struggles.

The planetary positions in lord Rama’s horoscope serve as unique markers of his divine persona and intricately sketch the Kaal Purusha. Every single one of the planetary placement speaks of the particularities of the cosmic energy and serves as a medium to showcase the inner potential. The Gaja Kesari Yoga for instance formed by aligning Jupiter and Moon in the Lagna is significant because it indicates his virtue and dharma. It's actually the hallmark of yoga which is verging on the greatness, this yoga is filled with the direction of Vishnu, who preserve the balance in the cosmos.

The notion of a Cosmic Man serves as a docent that everything we experience like joy and growth as well as suffering and loss are a part of a larger cohesive unit. The intertwining aspects of Lord Rama’s life are captured through his astrological chart. He was detached from the familiar comforts of home, as Saturn was in the fourth house. This placement is in tune with the energy of Shiva, which is the cosmic force of destruction. This energy seperates the familiar from the unknown in order to trigger growth. Although Rama’s exile was painful, it served as a burning as a reevaluating period for his him spiritually and morally.

Mercury as the lord of both the 3rd and the 12th houses reveals the full extent of cosmic consciousness in operation. It embodies not only the loss and exile Lord Rama sustained but also the great effort he exercised in maintaining dharma and relations. The planets act as the Kaal Purusha does through us, reflecting aspects of ourselves which need to be evolved upon. We can see these attributes in pronounced remnant theme when looking at the 10th house of Lord Rama: his regal character, leadership and dedication to dharma.

The story of Lord Rama illustrates the functioning of the Cosmic Man within humanity. His chart is considered as the working of the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. His birth, exile and eventual wrath upon Ravana depict the immortal cycle of suffering, endurance, and victory. However, the lord’s true magnificence extends far beyond the astrological formations as he chose time and again to engage dharma.
The first thing astrology depicts with the birth chart of Rama is consciousness. It reveals those attributes of Lord Rama which push sentient beings beyond their physical caps. Lord Rama's chart illustrates this idea beautifully. It reminds us that although there is self-awareness, choices, and the observance of truth; the planets provide a framework, and in so become shed in the gravity of bumps of a never-ending marching toward progress. Lord Rama is the ideal embodiment of Kaal Purusha who directs people to follow the path of righteousness, kindness, and self-discipline.
Lord Krishna & His Divine Leelas

Based on the rich backdrop of Hindu mythology, Krishna serves an indispensable and profound function. His arrival into this world, much like the previous avatars, is interpreted as a cosmic event, as he is the 8th incarnation of Vishnu. Vedic astrology is just not limited to its analysis only to the deity’s demeanor, but also interprets his zodiacs to provide details about the supernatural forces that dictated the life and fate of Lord Krishna.

Born during the auspicious Rohini Nakshatra with the Moon in the Krishna Paksha Bhadrapada, Krishna’s arrival was foretold on Ashtami Tithi. Like other Mahanishithkal, this event is also powerful in its nature. Krishna was born under a Taurus Ascendant, suggesting that he has Venus as his ruling planet. As the celestial body which epitomizes charm and beauty, this indeed signifies Krishna’s immense charm and divine elegance.
A detailed analysis of the placement of Krishna on the planetary matrix reveals the integration of various aspects of his being. He was deeply emotional and the moon on the ascendant symbolizes that. His sensitivity is further exemplified by the moon being exalted in Taurus and the immeasurable amount of love and compassion that dharma’s calling had for his subjects, Krishna, was thorough in remembering. And even in times of crisis when the honour of Draupadi was at stake in the Kaurava court, he was calm and collected, which captures the essence of how a man with a moon's constitution would behave.
The Sun in the fourth house is an indicator of emotional stress from separation, within the self sorrow memories. The early life of Krishna was riddled with separation from his mother, Devaki, and later from his foster mother, Yashoda. The depressive state he found himself in is evident from the Sun's position which showcases his reluctance for life struggles and the cut to the chase reason his heart is attached to godliness.
Now let’s examine Mercury’s placement in the 5th house, in Virgo. This indicates intelligence, wit, and mastery of communication. Lord Krishna was a great strategist and an orator, who was a master at language, and philosophy. He once spoke the Gita in the battle field of Kurukshetra. It is the one of the greatest texts on dharma and human life. At this moment, he was the epitome of intelligence, wisdom, and spirituality by the perfect fusion of intellect with the wisdom of the world. He was also deeply influenced by the mercurial energy.

Lord Krishna’s birth is a chart with a esoteric vision of a being who is divined to be sculpted with life energies and cosmic forces. It does not only offer an insight into his unparalleled grace, strength, and wisdom but gives a glimpse into the plan behind creation. As this tells us about the positioning of planets and their energies towards the birth of krishna, it showcases the mystical aspects which should guide us to realising our divinity and our purpose on earth.
Finally, an analysis of the horoscope of Lord Krishna casts light on the eternal morals of his life as well. His astrological chart reveals the intimate relationship between fate and God's transcendental pastime, as well as teaches us that we are mere puppets in the cosmic symphony of the universe.
